How should I describe Wellspring Calgary through my event?
Mission: Wellspring Calgary is a warm and welcoming community that provides a comprehensive range of support, resources and programs so anyone living with cancer and the people who care about them can improve the quality of their lives.
Vision: No one has to face cancer alone.
A cancer diagnosis can be devastating. It brings countless life-altering moments and events for the people who receive the diagnosis and for those who love them. People with cancer are compelled to find a new ‘normal,' before, during and after treatment. Priorities shift, relationships change, life is ... different.
At Wellspring, people living with cancer tell us what helps them the most – having access to information, receiving support, and learning new ways to cope. Wellspring Calgary exists to inform, support, and empower those living with cancer and those who love and care for them, by helping to address the fear, isolation, disruption and practical problems which cancer can bring to our lives. All of our programs, services and resources are offered free of charge and without referral. Our vision is that no one has to face cancer alone.
Who can create an event?
Anyone can! It’s easy to sign up and post your message and pictures. Use this system to email friends, family and colleagues to join your event and fundraise with you, or to simply donate to your cause. There are no restrictions based on age, location or physical ability. The only thing you need to do is start a fundraising page. Large or small groups, families, companies, and school groups are all encouraged to participate. Participants will raise vital funds and awareness for Wellspring Calgary!
What about tax receipts?
Wellspring Calgary is a registered charity (# 809013675 RR0001). Every donation of $20.00 or more, and all online credit card donations, will receive a Canadian tax receipt for the entire amount of the donation. Please ensure you have the full name, mailing address and postal code for your donors for tax receipts that are to be mailed. An immediate tax receipt is emailed to donors who submit a donation online directly or to your personal fundraising page.
Can I join an event?
Yes! When you register you will be taken through a process to join an existing event or you can create your own. Once you join you also obtain your own personal fundraising page attached to the main event, and you can send messages to your friends, family and colleagues to donate to your fundraising efforts.
I really want to hold a fundraising event for Wellspring Calgary but I’m not sure where to start. Any suggestions?
We have created a list of suggestions for things you can do to raise funds and awareness for Wellspring Calgary, supporting anyone living with cancer in our community. Please click here for some ideas. But the easiest events are those that are meaningful for you personally (like a head shave, wedding gift or birthday party celebration, a bicycle ride or skateboard challenge), and those that are fun for you (like a games night, a supper party or themed dinner event). Make it your own and make it personal and you’ll succeed! Make sure you tell your own story to help people understand why this is important to you.
How can I personalize my Personal Fundraising Page and share it with others?
You can upload 2 photos of yourself and/or your event to your personal fundraising page. We’d like to suggest you link this page to your Facebook and other social media sites, where you can upload as many photos as you’d like and where others can also post to your page. You can create an events page on your personal Facebook page and really make something unique. Then invite your Facebook friends to join your event or support you by donating through your link. Do you tweet or Instagram? More great opportunities to share stories, updates and great pictures to your network!
I only have cash or cheques, how do I record these donations towards my event?
You can record these towards your fundraising campaign by logging into your Participant Centre and recording an offline gift. This payment will be added to your campaign totals right away. Then make sure to send a pledge form with the donors contact information to Wellspring Calgary so your supporter can receive a mailed tax receipt.
Or you can download the pledge form and record all donations together. Once complete, please return the form and all donations to our office. We recommend you do NOT mail cash but arrange to drop it at our offices during normal business hours (Monday to Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.).

Can I get someone from Wellspring to attend my event?
We cannot guarantee someone from Wellspring will attend your event, but if you make the request, we will do our best to honour the request pending the style of event, day and time, and availability of someone to attend. In your request, we’d like to know if you would like a member, volunteer or staff person to speak on behalf of Wellspring Calgary or to have someone attend for a photo opportunity.
Can I get Wellspring marketing materials or program information to use at my event?

Can I use your logo on my advertising materials or promotions?
Yes you can. Please see our community event guidelines.
If you plan on raising more than $5,000, please complete pages 3 to 5 of the event guidelines PRIOR TO REGISTERING YOUR EVENT and return it to Events Manager, Karen O'How, at events@wellspringcalgary.ca or by phone at 587-747-0260 ext 1005 for assistance.
